"When we were young"!!!!!! These pictures of Werl Barracks has brought back so many wonderful memories for me...And has reminded me of "When I was so fit."
30 years ago was when I left Werl and not a day passes when the thought of a very proud PTI left the gymnasium in Werl to go on to realising how much I missed The GYMNASIUM......."YOU COULD'VE TAKEN A PHOTO OF THE GYMNASIUM YAH RAJ".....lol

    Thanks

The trip was marvelous and how much I miss the Regiment...well..."WHEN WE WERE YOUNG!"

You've created wonderful memories for the "aulde sweats" of the regiment and to turn this into an album would be a manifestation of your loyalty to the regiment.

I hope to return to Werl this summer before the camp is demolished for one final time...And then its back to TRAINING!!!!!

Kevin...allow me to congratulate you for the excellent and detailed photographic shots of the gymnasium where I once stood as a very proud Physical Training Instructor (PTI)/Boxer.

    Once again...I thank you.

I was projectionist at the Globe Cinema (Fort York)
before it became Salamanca Barracks and have fond
memories of that era 1967 to 1970 when the Canadians
occupied the site 2nd Battalyon Royal Canadian
Regiment. Iworked for Army Kinema Corporation which
    ran all cinemas for BAOR.

    schaue gern mal wieder vorbei.

    Grüße aus dem Kraichgau :)

Served with 4 Field Squadron RCE at Fort Victoria from 64 to 68. I was back in Germany Dec/Jan last and visited the Forts in the Werl/Wickede area. Sad sight as I had many great memories during my posting there. Germany was my first posting outside Canada during a 35 year career. Wonderful site.

Spent time at both San Sebastian and Salamanca - really enjoyed your photographs. Slide 26 of 28 of San Sebastian - the building opposite the detention centre were the headquarters of DOE Germany - I have no idea why I remember that

My dad, Herbert Holstead, was the Manager of the Globe Cinema in Salamanca Barracks until he passed away 1976.....I also remember Bill Henderson, who was there before my Dad, when it was in Canadian hands....very fond memories, although me and my brothers and sisters were very little........I worked in the NAAFI Hostel from 1979 - 1989.....my brothers Oliver, Norbert and Thomas worked in Salamanca Barracks aswell, as my sisters Angela and Susanne did...... we had so many brilliant times until the troops sadly left Soest and Soest had a great, big loss in the pubs and clubs ;) Now, I live in Salamanca Barracks ;) not far from were the NAAFI Hostel used to be....it's an industrial area now and it's of course NOT the same as it used to be....Barbara
