Newcastle Barracks & Brixton Camp B.A.O.R Hamm


Newcastle Barrack closed its doors on the 1 June 1994.

It was Formerly known as Dannevoux Artillerie Kaserne.

 

Once home from 1951 - 1957 5th Armoured Workshop REME

6th Infantry Workshop REME 1957 -1958

& the Windsor Girl's School 1960-1980.

 

Some parts of the barracks are in good order, some of the buildings are in very good order, however some have been used since we left, but some are ruins and beyond repair, part of the Barracks is inaccessible.

The Barrack is now (March 2012) used as the Main Tax office (Hauptzollamt) and the German Post.

 

It is said that the a new housing estate is going to be built on this site.

Brixton Camp (Windsor Boys School)  - Formerly Known as Argonner Kasern

 

Only two buildings remain of Brixton Camp the rest of the camp has been completely demolished.

The site is now an industrial park and housing estate.

    I am an ex Windsor Girl.. I can't tell you how much I hated the place, you just laid a whole load of ghosts to rest ... thanks !

    I too was at Windsor Girls, completing my High School Education there. I can safely say the majority of girls and boys who attended the Windsor Schools have great memories of there time.

    I also was at Windsor Girls I have fond memories of the school and one of my close friend was Ellen we were both in Balmoral House.

    I attended Windsor Girls School from 1960 to 1963 Edinburgh House, it was the best time,and I have some very fond memories of the place, so sorry to see it go.
